The book is very straight to the point。 Not an exhausted list for sure, but there are a lot of hints, a lot of questions for you to answer。 You try to answer till you are hit by "oh f*ck" moment。I've learned tons from the book The book is very straight to the point。 Not an exhausted list for sure, but there are a lot of hints, a lot of questions for you to answer。 You try to answer till you are hit by "oh f*ck" moment。I've learned tons from the book 。。。more
Guru,
My second reading in almost 7-8 years。 I must say that the book holds up well after all these years。 I have been a big fan of Maurya's Lean Canvas - has really helped me condense my thoughts。 And this book is a natural supplement。 Of course, a bunch of things are not relevant anymore or are a part of standard operating playbooks (such as CI/CD) but by and large, the book has very coherent, practical advice for entrepreneurs starting off。 My second reading in almost 7-8 years。 I must say that the book holds up well after all these years。 I have been a big fan of Maurya's Lean Canvas - has really helped me condense my thoughts。 And this book is a natural supplement。 Of course, a bunch of things are not relevant anymore or are a part of standard operating playbooks (such as CI/CD) but by and large, the book has very coherent, practical advice for entrepreneurs starting off。 。。。more

Pragmatic and step-by-step approach how to create a startup in a lean way。 No magic, focus on the important things - I liked it。I wouldn't recommend the audiobook as the style of the book doesn't really fit that setting。 Pragmatic and step-by-step approach how to create a startup in a lean way。 No magic, focus on the important things - I liked it。I wouldn't recommend the audiobook as the style of the book doesn't really fit that setting。 。。。more
Omar Waked,
My mentor recommended this book to me after I spent many months aimlessly trying out various business models and proposed value propositions。 After reading running lean, I had a much better understanding to a viable framework to use when building a startup。 The advice, frameworks, and tools provided in this book have been undeniably important and beneficial to running a startup more effectively。
Jonathan Lupa,
I'm not sure who I would recommend this to directly, however, if you are thinking about kicking off a startup, and want some well tailored methodologies to follow to drive learning and transformation ahead of market fit, this book gives them。 In this way it's highly valuable。It also riffs on and advocates the lean canvas idea which the author created, which I've found invaluable in many projects to drive alignment if nothing else。 That tool is highly recommended (and free) regardless of your eng I'm not sure who I would recommend this to directly, however, if you are thinking about kicking off a startup, and want some well tailored methodologies to follow to drive learning and transformation ahead of market fit, this book gives them。 In this way it's highly valuable。It also riffs on and advocates the lean canvas idea which the author created, which I've found invaluable in many projects to drive alignment if nothing else。 That tool is highly recommended (and free) regardless of your engagement with this book。 。。。more

Great practical read
Diana,
In comparison to Lean Startup, this is a much more concise, concrete and actionable book。 Anyone interested in Lean would be better off skipping Lean Startup by Ries altogether and directly jumping to this one。Nevertheless, I personally think the Lean approach lets you create a predictable product in a non-radically segmented market, which is worth of, say, 50 to 100M in the end。 It is, however, not the right method to build a unicorn or an iconic product, which requires a more radical and uniqu In comparison to Lean Startup, this is a much more concise, concrete and actionable book。 Anyone interested in Lean would be better off skipping Lean Startup by Ries altogether and directly jumping to this one。Nevertheless, I personally think the Lean approach lets you create a predictable product in a non-radically segmented market, which is worth of, say, 50 to 100M in the end。 It is, however, not the right method to build a unicorn or an iconic product, which requires a more radical and unique approach。 Either way, it is a useful book to read through。I'm speaking from experience as a tech founder of a venture-backed SaaS startup。 。。。more

This book let you look deep into the life of startups and let you understand what obstacles they face。 It was helping me understanding the bigger picture a little better。 So I recommand it to everyone, who is entereing startup spheres and needs a little more deeper understanding about the processes。

J。 Atticus Steinmetz,
So far, this book has done more for me as an entrepreneur than any other "entrepreneurship book"。 The reason is simple, it's written in the very style it preaches。 The book itself is lean。 Once I finished reading my copy (which is now filled with highlights and sticky tabs) I could begin treating it less like a book and more like a playbook。 I refer to it constantly like a field manual whenever I'm in need of guidance。 So far, this book has done more for me as an entrepreneur than any other "entrepreneurship book"。 The reason is simple, it's written in the very style it preaches。 The book itself is lean。 Once I finished reading my copy (which is now filled with highlights and sticky tabs) I could begin treating it less like a book and more like a playbook。 I refer to it constantly like a field manual whenever I'm in need of guidance。 。。。more
Caleb Lim,
It is essentially a concise guidebook of know-hows for startups to succeed。 Some chapters are really helpful and I have managed to make bookmarks on some topics that for sure I will be revisiting。 I especially enjoy that the author has stuck to the same examples (his own startup, Cloudfire, for example) throughout the book, it is even easier this way for readers to learn step-by-step。
Bernd,
I've read about half way through, then shelved it。The little interesting information is all contained in chapter 1。 The rest of the book is just an inflated repetition of chapter 1。 This is no surprise, since the author said himself that he wrote chapter 1 initially, and the rest only after proving interest。The author is a blogger without any successful background。 No, a weak book and yet another file hoster aren't enough to teach universal theories for big startups。 The book is merely a repetit I've read about half way through, then shelved it。The little interesting information is all contained in chapter 1。 The rest of the book is just an inflated repetition of chapter 1。 This is no surprise, since the author said himself that he wrote chapter 1 initially, and the rest only after proving interest。The author is a blogger without any successful background。 No, a weak book and yet another file hoster aren't enough to teach universal theories for big startups。 The book is merely a repetition of already existing ideas like Lean Startup, which are just rephrased over and over multiple times。The author's writing style is weak at best。 You can hear the over exaggerated tone of a blogger, which artificially praises the discovery of "rules"。 Most of the words are fluff and useless。I can't recommend anyone reading this book。 It's wasted time better spent working。 。。。more

Very practical, if you want to start a business it could help you (its important to say that the book is focus on products, not services)。 The main idea is the validation of the business in 3 phases: previous the launch, during and after。Also it explains you the canvas model and its application step by step。

Very progressive book。 The book details the whole progression from the very beginning to the monetization phasis。 It provides a lot of "simple" tools: at the end of the reading, you really get a complete toolkit you can refer to later。 Although, the examples apply to a real case so it's really easy to project yourself on how to use the tools in real life。There also are great and very inspiring quotes and a very interesting bibliography, even sometimes pointing to free eBooks like "Dont just roll Very progressive book。 The book details the whole progression from the very beginning to the monetization phasis。 It provides a lot of "simple" tools: at the end of the reading, you really get a complete toolkit you can refer to later。 Although, the examples apply to a real case so it's really easy to project yourself on how to use the tools in real life。There also are great and very inspiring quotes and a very interesting bibliography, even sometimes pointing to free eBooks like "Dont just roll the dice" (Neil Davidson)。I highly recommand this book, to read it from start to the beginning at first, then to pick tools and strategies later during the product developement lifecycle。 。。。more
